I have a 70 LP that is stock and I have taking to 2 pulls and 3 out of 6 times it has died on me and I cant figure out what it is.

Try her on a dyno for several minutes. Is she making full power? Could be convertor problem or water flow restriction and starving for fuel. You are running it on liquid and not vapour and freezing the tank? Using propane or butane,that stuff freezes easy. Odds are you are in the 8000lb class and it takes a stout 70 with that fast 1st gear as previously mentioned. A set up 70 LP with a dry aircleaner conversion and dyno set fuel and spark with short 15.5x38 tires might do it.

I don't know how the weight on your sled comes on, but where I pull it comes on quick. From what I've seen a 70 with it's fast first gear, usually does power out, where a 60 or even very late A with it's much slower first gear will continue until it breaks traction. With the sled that is used here I've never seen a stock G or 70 break 200 ft, however once worked over they are very competitive. Later, Greg H.
