Need advice about Farmall Super M...

My grandfather was considering selling our Super M. I asked him to hold off because I might be interested in restoring it and getting into tractor pulling. I am not sure of the year, but the battery box is under the seat, if that helps. It had some engine work done years ago and I believe that the fire-crater pistons were replaced with something less...flat-top or dished, due to a clerance problem with the new cylinder head. They said that the engine would now be comparable to a regular M. What might this tractor be worth before restoration...it runs. and what would it take to restore it to a Super M, where could I get the parts? approx. how much $ would they cost me? While I am doing the engine work, what other things could I do to give it more power for pulling? Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks,

If you are going to pull the tractor in stock classes call LEMONS TRACTOR IN INDIANA . They have a 355 CID That that is one BAD little motor. If you are going to use the tractor or show it build it back to a stock Super M .Just some added imfo there is only about 1200.oo difference . it also comes every thing line bored and balanced . This will probably be the cheapest way to go. It will also kick some BACK SIDES . GOOD LUCK

Parts are easy to come by,even from the Case/IH dealer.Other sources are TSC,NAPA many non IH dealers carry a line of parts that will include Farmall.Used parts are out there too.Do a archive search on this site for More power, pulling etc.Lots of info.

i) i could give you a year with the serial number.
ii) Parts can be bought right off of this site. Surf around in the Farmall section there are parts and prices in there.
iii) 450 sleeves and pistons would help build power for pulling. I am considering this one myself. 15.5-38 tires would be a good way to help with pulling. I still have the 13.6-38 on mine but would consider the 15.5-38 next time. Hopefully this helps somewhat.
