go the max!!
9.250 stroke and look around for good power block.
Port the head and use 720 valves. Buy a 70 carb also. Then look out!!

JD Puller-- Where could we get this work done at and where can we get the parts to do it? how much would we have to modify to get the 9.250 stroke in it?? I would like to send all of it to one guy and get it done. Also do you know where to get a set of aluminum 16.9/38 9 bolt rims? Thanks for all the help!!

You can prbally get around 8 in. of stroke without too much trouble, and a powerblock with G pistons (6.125) will be about the max bore available. the block would be about 1200, and the pistons are around 450 a set. The stroke would be around 900$ were I'm from
hope this helps

You'll probably have to go with a 60 powerblock, as a G block won't fit without massive modifications to the maincase and frame. Ever seen the difference in frame width between a 60 and a 70?

If this is your 1st pulling tractor the 60 is very capable in the 6500 & 8000lb classes bone stock/cheap. The creaper 1st gear, road worn 15.5x38 Firestone traction field and road tires with proper weight balance/max legal drawbar height will pull plenty. Traction 1st then HP. A few extra ponies are available cheap , 1st from a dry aircleaner conversion, then a straight stack and tuning the mixture/timing on a dyno.
