Well I think I have seen it all now. Was at a qualifier pull yesterday for a county fair. All participants must wear a helmet. Now I'm all for safety but come on. Some how I don't think it is really necessary for a stock low gear pull with 10% over on rpm to need a helmet. With a couple quick changes I'll give them a helmet during the fair week. Anyone know if Shoei makes a green helmet HAHA

Have not heard from you in a while Burns.
If something catastrophic happened in 1st gear I don't think a helmet would hold the weight of the tractor off of you.Now I went to a smoker pull last night and I can see the helmets and rollcages as being a necessary.I swear some of these people must have to carry thier things in a wheelbarrel.

Yeah Jack, I agree with ya on the smokers. I work for the family construction business during the busy summer months. Long days and lots of hours in the garage during the evenings keeps me away from the computer. Plus doing a lot of pulling on the weekends. Wife is ready to kill me as I haven't been home but for a couple of days during the month.

Believe it or not I am frantically trying to finish this adjustable hitch for another Farmall M that my brother in law and I have been workin on. There is a pull Wednesday night that I plan on pulling that evil red thing LOL. I will say that I kinda like a 4" exhaust on a Farmall.

You might want to trade that 4" pipe for a 4" charger!

You must have been at the Franklin 4-H grounds pulling with Allegheny Highland Pulling Assn. Sat. morning as you have to pull there to be invited to the 4-H fair pull in Augest.

Greetings Rod, yeah it was at Franklin. Don't get me wrong, I'll follow their rules but it may be one rule that I think could be stretching it. Once they get a little more clay on the track, should be a nice place to pull. Their grounds sure do look nice.

I think helmets might be pushing it a little in antique tractor pulling. I'd be more in favor of the straw hats with the green visor in front. Maybe require the super or open classes to wear a chin strap to keep it from blowing off. Seriously though I just haven't heard of any accidents or injuries that would justify wearing helmets.

jdchick eh? Well now I just wonder WHO you might be? Seems like there was a young lady who aired me out pretty good on the phone a while back about a I-H hat. Hmmmm. Would you be her?

Well, I don't know anything about an I-H hat, but if she aired you out, then she probably heard that you were yapping your trap to someone she is close to about her wardrobe choice!!! Of course, I understand that you're probably GREEN (jd that is) with envy over her tractor affiliation...
By the way, you wouldn't have any scrap copper laying around, would you, like maybe some that was left over from making parts....? I'm interested in making a birdhouse..... :)

Got a little scrap copper, but it has some mighty big holes in it. Don't know how useful it would be in making a birdhouse unless they like big windows. Be glad to share some with you though.

Well, I was thinking about making a house that would be good for an emu. Are the holes that big? You know, you never can tell when an emu is going to come try to nest in your yard, and woe be unto you if you don't have a good sleeping spot for him. You know, I worry about stuff like this..... ;)
