I have a Farmall H with oversize pistons in it. And in a week or two I am going to be participating in my first tractor pull for fun and I can't decide if I should use first or second gear.(The sled has transferring weight) Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

Stick to first gear, Bob. Stock H's don't breathe well enough to hold second gear. We had 2 H's on Dad's farm, I got Grandpa's back before Dad died. To hold 2nd gear, you'll need a 350 Farmall intake manifold, carb, and head to take advantage of your big pistons. Good luck and great pulling.

I'd pull in low, unless you have about 90 hp.

You will probably have to use first gear.If they are using a short chain that sled will pull you to the ground and limit tire spin and pull hard on your tractor. There is a long way between first and second gear when pulling a sled,it takes a lot of horse power to go up a gear.
