I don't know if this is the same one , but sometime in the mid '70s Kinze put together two 5020's hinged in the middle with GM 8v71's 318hp at each end , this may be the one . It was big at the time , supposed to be a one of a kind . It was at the Farm Progress show can't remember which year though . It was pulling a big DMI plow . I'm about 40mi north of DMI factory and once when I was there getting some parts I remember seeing this HUGE thing , or what was left of it , sitting out in the lot . This was before Kinze was in the planter buisness and some how he was tied into DMI , I don't know the exact connection but maybe some body can tell more about it . That's about all I know about it , Jim

It was made by Kinze manufacturing, I think when he was first starting out. Now he repowers tractors with big cummins engines makes corn planters, and grain carts.

Ever seen any info on the most powerful farm tractor ever built, the 12V-900 Big Bud? Factory equipped with a 12V-71 Detroit. Their initial estimates put the horsepower quite a bit lower, but field work seemed to suggest that it had at least 900 hp. There was a story in Farmer's Hotline about it awhile back. They could work an acre a minute, and wear out shovels in a day. It would pull rippers fast enough to heat the shanks to the point of glowing. Ungodly machine.

Man weren't those Big Bud's something! I remember when I was a youngn' we went to the state fair (MO) and they had a huge tent set up. Inside this tent was 8-10 4WD tractors, of all different makes (back before Agco owned everything) and at the front of the tent was a Big Bud - made the others look like toys.

Sure wish they had farm displays like that now at the state fair.

Thanks for the trip back in time.

You must be thinking of the 16V747 Big Bud. Here is a link to their web page. They had a show about this tractor on RFDtv. Really impressive.

You are absolutely right. I think my mind is finally starting to give up from trying to retain too much useless info, lol. It was the 16V747. Thanks for the correction.
