We have a farmall 544 gas motor tractor that we want to pull in stock class. We pulled it last year at local fair did really bad with it in the 6ooo lbs class we only went 80 feet and spined out not to sure what to do this year.Is there anybody out there that can tell me how to get more power out of her with out rebuilding it. We just want to have fun but 80 feet was no fun when my m was going 250 feet. Is there anything I could do to get the rpms up???any help on this would be great thanks Jeremy

I would see if you could shave the heads on your tractor. You can also send the cam in and get it reground and that is suppost to give you up to 20% more horse.

Utility style tractors like the 544 weren't made to pull like that. That is why the M beat it. It is a lot harder to get the traction on a utility.

farmall man's not paying attention. A Farmall 544 is a ROW CROP tractor. An International 544 is a utility tractor. Same basic setup as our 504, with more cubes, 200 instead of 153, and hydraulic upgrades. The fallen list of Row Crop models to our "little" 504 is lengthy. H, M, Super in both, 300, 350, 400, 450, 544 Row Crop, 560, etc. We pull 4500#, 5000#, 6000# classes with a utility model. It's not what ya brung, it's how ya run!! We also pull AC, JD and 3 Olivers. 4500# - 7500# stock classes.

so i would load it up to a seemingly insane amount of weight because it doesnt matter how slow you have to go, i own a pretty mean utility and know of some others that have been pretty mean

well if you spun out that would be a traction problem and not power, i think you have the power and gear selection for that class to leave it unmodded so i would work on traction, maybe taller tires or play with the hitch or something

We have a 544 row crop with 14.9-38 on it. My brother pulled it a 9000lb farm class in 1st gear could use the TA and it would sometimes out pull 806's. Good pulling little tractor.
