I have a 1952 JD A that I plan on pulling this coming weekend. I need some tips on how to get more horsepower before this weekend without having to take apart my tractor. Thanks

As long as it makes stock HP forget about the engine and pull in creeper gear. Worry about weight ,balance and hitch height/length. Tires will make or break a pull. The harder the track, the shorter and sharper the bars the better(usually).Rims should be as wide as the tire.

Put a straight pipe on and open the load on the carb about a quarter of a turn. Let it roar. An A like you have should never run out of power with that creeper gear. I am pulling a 1936 John Deere A and it never runs out of power.

Is it true that Tilley will be traveling the winter circuit this coming winter, NOT pulling, but as a fuel saleman for any puller needing a little "special" fuel!? Wonder if it will burn in all these german diesel with spark plugs in the their old injector holes? Surely noone would try to do that now would they?

yes oh yes, Tilley has come up with a mixture that will increase h.p. by as much as 40%! and is non detectable no matter what fuel test you use! now i have only been told these things, but it was from a very reliable source in n.c. also they said he is building another tractor that is very huhs-huhs! rumor is that it is funded by a big sponsor that wants to take brooks and bear to the cleaners! if anyone knows anything, please let us know!!!!!

I took my A to the pulls this past weekend and got 6th place in the 5500# class. It was the first time i've pulled it and i beat Farmall 460's, JD 60's, and a couple of oliver 88's.
