Jimmy,
sorry noone is replying on this one, but to be honest unless you see something, it's hard to put a price, or come up with even a guide to help someone out. for instance alot of people go ape over the unstyled stuff, and give what I consider unGodly amounts of Money for them. But to me JD didn't make an A worth owning until 49 or 50,or whenever it was that they came out with the straight 6 speed. To me those tractors are worth more than the earlier A's because I can use them more. I personally haven't seen an A sell for more than 1500 dollars, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen everyday. I know this isn't much help, but if you like it buy it, and if you end up paying too much for it, lie to your wife and friends. Later, Greg H.

I think the "real" six speed he is referring to is the version with a six position quadrant (seven counting reverse), like the first number tractors had (60, etc), rather than the older set up with a three (four counting reverse) position quadrant and a high-low shifter.

Normally I wouldn't reply but I recently bought a 35 unstyled B, not running but not stuck, all there, in better shape than alot of ones that run for only $200.00. A John Deere A should bring more but if you can get it cheap good for you. I like all tractors especially one's really low on price. and I'm not a big JD fan.
