Is the chain length the same from the sled to the drawbar at different tractor pulls?

Hello,
the sled i pull with, has a chain on the front of it, dont know how long it is, but it's the same lenght for everybody, so it seems to me that its fair, when we change classes all the operator has to do is change gears on the sled, at a pull we start with 3500lb class and go all the way to 8500 open class, and i have never seen the first weight moved on the sled.
I guess everybody ought to be looking for better sleds huh, or find something else to complain about.
just my thought
Shawn

Here in Illinois we like to think 46--48 in chain. You have to always check because lazy sled guys like to slip longer chain to keep from adding weight to sled box. Keep a tape measure in your pocket . Earl Iin Illinois

Rarely if ever. I pull many different sleds throughout the midwest. No two boats are the same. Most boats have an adjustable chain as a quick and easy way to determine a winner in a pull off without having to add weight to the transfer.

Yes the chain lenght varies. Some sleds even vary the length of the chain so THEY don't have to pack weight.
