Plectronics electroinc igintion

I was installing a plectronics igintion on my '52 John Deere B I hooked it up by the book and turned the key on and the thing threw a fire ball out the ditribter! So I'm taken it back what kind of system do yall use?

Is this the PerTronics system you are talking about? That system is mostly a breakerless system, and you can attach a high-output coil to it. If so, the only reason you would get a flash from your distributor would be from either a defective unit, or possibly the unit being wired backwards.

If the unit is defective, I'd simply ask for an exchange.
