My first pull is next weekend after putting 15.5 x 38 tires on my JD G. Any suggestions as to tire pressure to start?

A easy way to find a starting point for your air pressure, is to park on a hard flat surface (drive way, shop floor or on your trailer before chaining down) with a tire cleat at bottom dead center. Then air up or down until the very end of the cleat is 1/4 inch or so off the flat surface. Check the pressure and put the same amount in the other tire.(This is also a good time to check and adjust your hitch height). Then after you pull check the holes as the other reply said and adjust pressure up or down as needed. Hope this helps.

For normal field purposes Firestone & Goodyear want a min of 12psi for any service. Of course pulling is another matter.

What size rim are they mounted on? When I went to a 14" rim I needed to go up 4-5psi more to prevent them from buckling up in the center. I am running around 12 on my 14.9x38. Our M with fluid only runs around 8-9psi w/ fluid.

I'd try 10 and go from there. Just look at your holes before you leave the track. Nice flat holes are what you are after. Dished holes = to much air and domed holes = not enough air.

You find most tires are different depending on age (hardness), width, brand, fluid/no fluid, weight class.

About mid season last year we upped our preasure from 14 or 15 to 22 or 23. We run brand new F/R's on 17" rims we had them cut and cured by J&L pulling tires in Illinois. The first pull we tried this at I won by 35' that was after a sub par early season. We made the drastic change after try small 1-2 pound increases. But as always your tractor will probably respond to a different change, because all tractors react different. My advice would be try several different presures untill you find whats best for you.
