I was wonder what you do to an olliver 88 or super 88 to get all the power you can, not using 12 port heads, and can still run water in it.
thanks,
John

Three things; alcohol, rpm and a turbo or two. Baring that; RPM, cubes and compression. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, a deep wallet does tend to help. It all depends on the rules you are going to pull under and what they allow. What do they allow? How much power are you looking for?

Take care,
A.P.

Find a 1100 Massey head, under 1000 bucks.
Install bigger cam. You gotta figure that out on your own.
Get the compression up over 250 psi.
That would be a good start.

John, what do your rules allow for RPM? Can you run alcohol?

Take care,
A.P.

We aren't supposed to run alcohol, but some do, and there isn't an rpm limit, well, that I know of.

If you can run rpm I would suggest setting the motor up for around 390-430 cubic inches. The Waukesha 195/Massey 1100 gas head and manifold set is a good starting point. While your at it grab the crank and the oil pump. Offset gring the crank for big block chevy rods (2.2" rod journal). Get a big carb and feed it with a electric fuel pump. Have the head and manifold set ported. Heavy valve springs and bigger valves. Make a intake manifold and header if you can use them instead of the cast pieces. Get a good cam with roller lifters. Etc.

It all depends on what you want to spend.

Good luck,
A.P.
