I am thinking of pulling a 70D. Two things, how do they do in the farm stock class? And what does a 70D weigh?

Have you ever seen a guy by the name of Bill Grimes pull with his 70. I think it is called Pork and beans. I have seens pictures in the hook. He runs a turbo on the mad tow cylinder. GOOD LUCK!

BUDD, I pull a 70 gas with 14.9x38's and do well in the #7500 and sometimes the #8500 class in Div. 1. If I can find some more Deere weights, I'd like to try a little lighter class, but I keep fluid in her for now which keeps me at a min. of #7500, and add the 1 set of weights I do have and go #8500. I have pulled against a guy with a 70 D a few times, and he does well, runs 15.5X38's which I will eventually go to. My problem is that our local antique club requires a 16" drawbar height which doesn't allow for much weight transfer, even with the drawbar as short as possible. When we are at a pull that allows a 21" drawbar height, we use a riser, or a modified 4020 drawbar, that front comes up a little, she just skims the ground and puts those weighted up Super M's to shame...avoid pulling against 720's though! Pete

The farther the drawbar is pulled out the greater the leverage to pull the front wheels up and place weight on the back. Keeping it short is to reduce flexing and drawbar lowering. Also keeps the drawbar higher should the front wheels lift.

A friend of mine pulls a 70D in the 7500 class with 15.5 x 38 Firestones. 70's are geared fast like a G so I wouldn't go too tall with the tire combo. All you need to do for the farm stock class is get your balance right and let some air out of your rear tires 10-11 psi and see what happens.
