Chains on the sled

I was curious as to what seems to be the popular chain length and hook point on the your sleds? Drawbar height is either 18" or 20" with the chain hooking right at the pan or 6-12" above the pan. I realize the effects of a short chain and hooking right at the pan but are there standards for sleds? One of the sleds we often will pull is built for mini-mods V8 tractors. He'll add the pan with the grouser bars. Some tractors don't react well when the pan is dropped.

Burns,
North American Sled Operators Association has developed a set rules for pulling sleds. Chain length is 46" including hooks and connectors.
The drawbar pinhole must be a minimum of one inch above ground and a maximum of two inches above ground on all sleds. Grousers are a fact of life with sleds that have to deal with heavier tractors. We use an air drop pan and regulate the drop speed by restricting the exhaust rate in each class. Stock tractors with restricted MPH get a slow pan drop that you can't even feel in the seat. Hope this helps.
