I pull a Super M in out of Field Class 5500, 6500, and 7500 lbs. I always seem to spin out before the engine starts to loose RPM's. I have 15/5 X 38 Firestone Road and field tires on 16" rims. Drawbar is at 20". Anyone have any suggestions on how to get any more traction? I run 8 lbs pressure in tires any help would be appriciated
Thanks

I agree with SEAMO, your air pressure is too low.The problem with running 3 weight classes is that unless you have a way to add air at the pull you won`t have the best pressure for each class.Take the class you do the best in and try to find the best tire pressure for that class. I run 6500,7500,8500 with my W-9 with 16-9 34 tires on rims that are too narrow, only 12" wide. This year I ran 12# in them, didn`t work too bad.

Years ago someone got lucky and won a tractor pull with wide rims. I think they look powerful. I don't think they help any when they are more than 1" wider than what the tire Mfg. recommends. The best results I have seen is no wider than the tread width. The other thing I think is a factor is pressed steel should be mounted in the center of the rim. RIM FLEX heavy classes??? The other thing is you have to change your air pressure when you go from 4500lb. to 5500lb to 6500lb to 7500lb. Soft track, hard track, depth of the tread.I have pulled antiques and observed the guys that win all the time. Balance, ability to read a track, luck of the draw on a track that is every changing condition, Understanding how the drawbar actually works, are some of the more important thinks you have to have to win. People laugh when I tell them to get the Webster dictionary out and look up "fulcrum" but your draw bar and balance is all based on this. Speed that you can pull the sled is a adjustment that you have to make to front end weight. Reply back and tell us your secret to winning antique tractor pulls. Earl

TOO wide rims for 15.5 and that kind of air pressure in those weight classes.Pump them up your loosing the center of your tire. You aren't pulling in sand are you????You are loosing at least 1" on draw bar height on a heavy pull do to tire pressure.

If your spinning out in the 7500 pound class then your tractor must not be stock.

Something else you might try as I have to sometimes depending on the track is to back out of the throttle just a little to get your engine in a lug. I have seen guys do this an just keep going instead of spinning. My son is just starting pulling on a Super M as welll and it does that sometimes too. I just changed to 15.5's on my Oliver and am trying to figure it all out too.

Ten to twelve psi is normal, eight on your set may be about right. Don't be afraid to experiment with two or three more in BOTH directons to see which works best. If your spinning out, add more weight to the rear. This assumes that "moveable weight" is legal as per your rules. Keep us posted and we'll try to help. Good Luck.

had the same problem with my m. one thing i studied on for a while is: all 15.5 tires are low profile, which won't let the tire flex and spread the tire traed out. put 16.9 on it and gained several feet. don't know if this set up will work for you but let me know if it does
