my d17 makes 46 hp on dyno is that enough to run 4000 and 4500 4 mph cut tire class? if not what does it take and whats the best way to get it?

A stock D-17 should make at least 52HP. My brother has one running in 4500# class with stock engine and 38" tires and does win quite often. It weighed 4,300# with him on, no fluid and did not strip even one part off. Check your air cleaner for plugging and give it a good tune up(points, plugs, wires and cap) and check power again with fresh fuel.

One of our group is running a D17 in 5700/6200 and doing pretty good! How did you get it that light?
