I was wondering if anyone had some tricks or "little secrets" on how to squeeze a little more out of my 1066. I pull it at tractor pulls occasionally and I want to get a little more out of it with what I have to work with. If anyone has ANY tips, please get back to me.

I'm as John Deere Green as anybody , been pulling 6cyl diesels for 30 yrs , lets not knock the Red ones . I've seen the back of them more than they've seen me . I just like Deeres but it is a lot cheaper and easier to make a good puller out of a 1066 than any 4430-40 . They have so many more combinations to work with and they have the CROSS FLOW HEAD which we don't have . I know a lot of people that pull IH and with the parts available I could fix up a GOOD running IH for a fraction of what a Deere would cost , also the IH people share the information more than the JD's do . Just my $.02 worth .

Sky is the limit it just comes down to how much you want to spend. The 1066's I pull against have bigger pump's (14mm), bigger lines and bigger injectors. They all have at least 466's in them some have gone to bigger cube's. The biggest thing that will help you is to get it ballenced right and get a good set of 20.8 x 38's or 42's radial tires. If your balenced right you should be able to get to the middle of the class. The last thing I can tell you is cheat. If they arn't checking the rpm's turn them up, if they arn't weighing add extra weight. You better belive that everyone else is too. It took me several year's to find out people arn't as honest as they seem, hey are there to beat you in any way possible. Don't bediscouraged though if you are having fun who care's what place you get.
