A friend and myself are looking for a good relaxed club to pull with in Ohio. We are located in the middle of the state so traveling will be easy. Any suggestions would be great, as long as it isn't COATPA!!!!! I won't even open that can of worms!!!!! !!!!!
P.S. we both pull Div. II
Thank you in advance

You might try Marshallville OH, about 20 miles north east of Wooster just off of St Rt 585. No money just trophys, real nice people, inexpensive ($12 to join, $5 per hook). Another low key club is in Bucyrus OH, east of Mansfield, same kind of rules as Marshallville.

Thanks for the update on Marshalville, I have been pulling up at Bucyrus all year and I have to admit that is a GREAT group of guys that put that on. I plan on going to Marshalville next weekend with the old M and see what she will do.

I wouldn't say it is the Div. II I don't care for it is just how the personel represents itself at your pulls. It sure come accross to us that the tractors with the V-8's were the only tractors that mattered. Sorry but I am not impressed in them at all. So don't take it the wrong way I am just looking for a club that is more interested in TRUE tractor pulling in the area. So if you happen to know of a GOOD club please share it with me if not enjoy yourself at COATPA.

No he's probobly just someone who realy loves old tractors and gets tired of seeing his classes narrowed, or done away with, so that all the hotrod, gutted, couldn't work in the field for more than 15 minutes, shell of their former self tractors can pull earlier in the evening, before the fans leave. Everyone says that its all about the fans, and they come to see the smoke. To me its about the tractor, and its true ability, and your driving ability, not jut the concept of having to entertain someone. Especially when you are lowering the bar to the least common denominator, and reaching out to people who could care less about the history of the tractor. I'd guess he would just like people to take his classes as seriously, as the rest, instead of feeling like a second class citizen to the upper divission. I do fairly well in my area in the natural asperated class, but people still try to make more concessions to the turbo classes, even though they draw half the pullers. It's all about wanting equal respect, not about rules or even winning. So go put some more money in your smoker, and quit making fun of people who want true farm tractor pulling. Later Greg H.

Kind of like professional wrestling. Next they'll decide who's going to win ahead of time and each take turns in the limelight.

No, no Coatpa experience. I pull every now and again with a local club that pulls a circuit of 6 counties in Western West Virginia, and a couple counties in Ohio, Meigs, and Gallia. The club is the American Farm Puller Association, out of Point Pleasant WV. They are a very good group of people, but they don't distinguish stock, and non stock. You just show up, weight up, and as long as you've got the right tire size, pull, and try to do your best. I didn't join the club this year, it's not because I of anything the club did, I missed the first two meetings, and they arn't changing rules this year anyhow, so I figured i'd save the membership dues. However, it seems you run into the if you arn't blowing fire, you arn't pulling attitude where ever you go. A person just has to do what they think is best and have fun. Later, Greg H.
