I can't offer much info/advise, going to do alot of guessing here. First of all, is this switch legal for the rules where you pull? In our area, this would cause a heart attack! I think you'll have to lengthen the frame rails. This lengthens the wheel base, so be sure ALTERED WHEELBASE is in the rules! The M clutch and flywheel is larger diameter than the H, but I'm not sure about the dia. of the 300. Check to see if the larger dia. will fit in the housing and if the bolt holes between the crank and flywheel will align. The SM clutch was 1" larger than the M and I think the flywheel was different too. I know for sure the 400/450 clutch/flywheel will not work in the SM due to the different input shaft and TA, but the clutch/flywheel can be exchanged. The radiator will probably be too small for long load times, but SHOULD be okay for a 300' pull if the radiator is in excellent, or maybe new, condition. The holes in the 300 hood probably won't align. The M engine will weight more, so the front end will be heavier than a normal 300, be sure to remember this as you BALANCE the tractor. The rearend and TA should take the added hp IF IT IS IN GOOD SHAPE. Yes, they were built to last, but make sure the TA is up-to-snuff. A button clutch is a MUST. Last, and very important, be sure to check that the steering shaft will clear the rocker arm cover. I think it will without power steering. Good Luck and keep us posted, I'm very interested how the engine swap turns out!

Might tick ya off and I'm a red fan myself but a TA was never built to last.

I heard a guy once say that while plowing, every time he had to pull the TA handle it reminded him of pulling the handle on the old mechanical cash register - because it got in his pocket!
