I am thinking about putting a stroker crank in my 77 RC, but have a few questions. How much stroke can you put in without cutting the rods and how much HP do you think that I would gain. I have 3.75 pistons with 770 head ported and polished with 1600 carb. Currently putting out 65-70 HP. I would really like to try and get to the 90-100 range.

Also, where can you get a crank built that is RESONABLE cost wise. I have seen somebody advertised in The Hook magaize that will do most cranks for $650? Has anyone had any experience with this guy?

Thanks in advance.

I called the guy in the hook with the $650 cranks. Asked if he would stroke a 77 to 5 1/2" for that price said he hadn't done one that big but GUESSED he could but wanted to charge by the hour. I'm having mine done by Jacks machince in Nebraska. He has done some for other people in this area everyone happy price is reasonable.

Use early 77 oliver rods with a 2 inch jorn. around a 5 inch crank before you need to do alot of grinding. You do take a little off the rods at this. Find some 3 7/8 M&W sleeves, you can bore out your block for these, and bore the sleeves to 4 inch. Very thin, but will live. As for the $650.00? I don't know. Should make you a nice little motor.
Good Luck!
