Has anyone ever opened up the heat riser area in the intake manifold to create a plenum chamber? Given the sharp bends from the carb to the manifold runners it looks like it would remove some of the restriction. I would think it would create a small reserve of air/fule mixture to help feed the cylinders. Should even out the flow demands on the carb particularlry in classes where the original carb must be maintained.

What are your experiences and thoughts?

Take care,
A.P.

Did that on a 1100 manifold attached to a 1100 head on an 88 block. Seemed to help torque slightly but got better rusults at higher rpms.
3500 to 4000.

Only slightly noticed via seat of the pants method.
Never has been tested with a dyno.

Removed all material and had to mill off front and top due to rust and bolt on plates. Used JB Weld to form the plenium.

Thank you for the response Tim. I may give it a try and see what a dyno says. I had hoped to get a bit more feedback from some of the other people on this board as well. maybe it's supposed to be a secret? Where are you from? I am in SE Michgan.

Take care,
A.P.
