Get a Propane head - get a propane setup
off a junked tractor - Put 4" pistons in
tractor - linebore the crank with the block.
Mill the propane heads another 125 thousands.
4" pistons were standard on the eagle hitch
tractors from the factory. Put a dry aircleaner
on the tractor - depending on RPMs you will get
5 to 10 more Hp with a better air cleaner.
If memory serves right (not to sure about
the old grey matter anymore) you will have
a 277 cu in. 65 pto hp machine at about 1500
RPM's. Warning lay in a supply of crankshafts.
Maybe you could get the crankshaft chemically
treated - so it would live longer - I do not
know if this would work - but would try it.
O'yah be sure you have a hand crank or another
tractor to pull it if it kills when hot. Two
batteries are a must and it will straighten
the bendix spring on occassion. When I was a
young bull - I could crank start it - but it
was a significant pull - the electric start with
two batteries had no chance. Tractor was near
brand new at the time - and run at 200 degrees when on load in mild weather.

If I was going to run it over 1500 RPM's I would
get a bigger carburator (maybe and L).

I pull a dc3, same engine as a dc4, We are planning on building a dc4 this winter. the one we have has the front axle up under the engine, not out front. I pull in low gear, 13.6x38 firestones, almost 1 year old. with 18 or 20 inch hitch it is hard to beat. I pull in 5500, 6000, 6500 classes. I recommend the gas head(5505) as they are easier to find. They can be bored out to 4.25 easy. Get big carb off 700. Tractor has very good low gear.
