Any idea how much more power it takes to turn a 16.9 X 38 over a 14.9 X 38?

The 16.9x38 is 66.3" dia with a 252 sq " footprint. The 14.9x38's are 63.0" dia with 200 sq " of contact area. So they are 1.04 times faster with 1.26 times more contact area.

If you have the power to turn them the 16.9's are the way to go, your getting more rubber on the ground. I found that my 70 hp tractor pulled better with 16.9's than it did with 15.5's. It got better traction, less tire slip and the tractor didn't power out as fast. I know guys with 50 hp tractors using them and doing quite well. just my 2 pennies.

track condition,chain lenght,cut of tire,drawbar
lenght,size of tractor,condition of motor,your
ability to ballance the tractor, tire pressure,
and size of sled,O and planet arrangement,
