The spelling is "Amsoil". It and Mobile 1 are the two superior brands on the market. Using synthetic will a make a wee bit more power than mineral oil due to less friction particually at extreme low and high temps or under very heavy loads. Synthetic oil will not make a stock "B" out pull a stock "A" in the same weight class however. No better than adding a mega turbo blaster Blitzburg ignition system and premium octane fuel to an otherwise stock engine.

Mr. Taylor,
Why do you say Amsoil and Mobile 1 are the two superior brands of synthetic oil out there? Do you have proof of this? Or is this your opinion?

AMSOIL will warrant their oils and oil-related engine failures, using change intervals of one year or 25,000 miles. Nobody else will do that. I've seen their spec sheets - they have outstanding NOACK and ASTM 4-ball wear test results too. Not to mention, the TBM numbers are higher than any other oil I've seen. Superior? I've found that oils are in the eye of the beholder. There are those who will disagree with we, and I'm sure I'll be hearing from them. I, for one, prefer to judge an oil from the spec sheet - not those inflated television commercials.

As to the original post: You might get slightly more horsepower in a tractor from using a good synthetic, but I doubt the results will be noticeable. Tight, high RPM engines are where these oils will tend to show their stuff. IMHO, a synthetic or a high-quality mineral oil will both work well in a tractor.
