It all depends on what division/classes you intend to pull in. I have a 570 that can pull the 5000 and up classes in division 4&5. I also like to wind up the rpms a bit and run field/farm stock. The tractor balances well and has a good trans. and r-end. It takes some work to get many cubes but you can increase them significantly.

Has anyone done a check on the amount of hp you can make. How many rpm's can you run them at safely?

With the cockshutt you can run around 3500 to 4000 rpms pretty safely with the 7 main crank not to sure with the 660 but still around 3000 I had a 570 i used to pull in the 6000 poudud class with 16.9 * 38 and did pretty good but always wanted to add a turbo.

Either tractor, would make a good puller. In our club, the IH 660's usually pull in the heavier weight classes,(10,500lbs through 13,500lbs). They are very competitive there. We have a Cockshutt 570 that pulls about 10,000lbs. He is very competitive around that weight.

Happy Tractoring, Ken
