Any information on anyone that can stroke a John Deere A crankshafts. Perferably in Minnesota. I'm looking at stroking it just under 8 inches.
Any good places to check and places to stay away from.
Also information on what it costs.
Thanks

Keith Merfeld built me a 9.250 inche A crank 5 years ago. He does great work. He is in Iowa and his number is 563-582-8710.

Was this 9.250" stroke on this JD-A done without having to move the cam or any other internal components? Just curious I am tossing around the idea of stroking an A with a powerblock, but don't really want to move components around in the crank case.

Thanks.

You can put a 9.25" in an A without moving anything. The cam has to be clearanced for the rods to make it all the way around without making nasty noises, the rear wall of the crankcase will need slots cut out, and the top of the crankcase will also need some grinding. Reduce the crankpin dia. to 2.75" and if you are going to use welded rods use a JD 329 diesel (4030) or 303 gas (combine) rod to weld to your A rod. It will take a lotta time and patience to get everything to fit right. Mike
