Need to know if there are any big carbs out there. I have a carb from a John Deere 7700 but it does not flow enough air for me. Thanks in advance. Steve

Steve--If you're willing to sell your 7700 JD carb, I'm interested. Email me if you are. Thanks, Brian.

Try the big Zenith carb that was run on the old Hall-Scott powerunits....they were 1000 c.i.....I guarantee you that it will feed anything you can build.....twice the size of the 7700 carb. It has 4 venturies and 4 dump valves....has a vacuum operated accelerator pump that will just keep on giving more and more fuel...an absolutely excellent pulling carburetor, way better than those piece of sh@#$ aircraft carburetors!!! I have one on my puller (968 c.i.) and it works perfectly....

The airplane carb flows about 20-25% more air than the four venturi Zenith. I know I have used both. You may have 968 cubes, but how many rpm's do you turn. Seems like a pretty harsh statement about the airplane carb. Did you ever try one? If you did, why did it not work for you? You can not take one and just bolt it on. There are several things that must be done to get them to work. I have two sizes of airplane carbs available and can also make an adapter for your intake manifold. The carbs sell for $350 each and adapter plates are normally $50. I have several references available if you need them. Thanks, Brad Gray

I have to admit, I have never used one of the aircraft carburetors myself, but there are several people in my area that are using them. A couple of the guys are really knowledgable about how to set them up, and when they work, they work really well. BUT, they are soooo touchy....every time the air changes a little bit, they have to fiddle with it....on the other hand, once I got mine dialed in, I have never had to touch it since.
I know the aircraft carb is bigger, but I think in many cases it is too big for the application it is being used for. I am not downmouthing the aircraft carb, just stating my opinion on which one I like better. By the way, I am running 3500 rpms, and mine feeds my tractor perfectly. In my opinion, I think running that aircraft carb is like putting an 1100 Dominator on a stock small-block Chevy....just too much for most applications..... ..Tony

They ran the 4 venturi zenith on 1200cid climax engines also, that doesn't change the fact that they flow less than 500cfm, those airplane carbs are capable of alot more get one off 2800 P&W they flow more than enough.

Is that a 2 barrel? If it is I have one and you could use it as a toilet!!!!! !! Good conversation piece. We mostly run the radial 985 carbs. What is the throat dimension on the one you are talking about? Thanks, Brad
