Over the winter months I am thinking of building a super smoker tractor. Of course I am talking diesel over alcohol. I am wondering what most of you are pulling with. I am wanting to know what the most economical tractor, which would be the least expensive and still be somewhat competitve. I have seen many price tags of tractors already build, and they seem as if they are cheaper to buy one already built than to build one yourself. I know the sky is the limit but what tractor could I build and put the least amount of money into and still win every once in a while. Thanks

pull with an md, you will not disapionted, unless you missuse this tractor you need proper warm up and cool down as the old diesel not properly cooled have a tendence to crack the head.

I would buy if I didn't really know want I wanted, with that being said, I would build a component it will be a lot easier to work with. Now motors u can find an abundance of IH or JD parts, for a super dsl on a budget I would use Ih, now I am not a user of either Of the above brands, Pull with Olivers and MM but dsl being where it is an IH is your best bet. I would rather have one I could pull in both wt breaks but that would also depend on where u plan to pull.
