I have heard from a real reliable sorce that Jr. Crum and company that host the Columbia' Mo pull in Nov. make enuff money on that pull to pay for their expences for going to all of the winter pulls they attend! if this is true (and I believe it is)this explanes why they do not have any payout at most of the pulls!! I'm not sure about everyone else but I don't feel like supporting someone elses hobby if it can't at least help out a little with mine! I realy think we as pullers can help each other out with this problem of no payout at these pulls by not pulling at this pull!! My sorce also told me that Jr. is very worried about the turn out at this pull because of all the talk of speed limits and pullers claiming they are not going! lets show the board members of the natpa that it is not just talk and rumors! Lets show them that we are tired of all there rule changing and favoring of board members and tired of the natpa and board members making money and not paying the pullers! Boycot the columbia pull and you will see some changes!!

I have read this board over the months and have heard all the crying and complaining I want to read. If it is so bad and the sled owners and promoters don't need to make money then build your own sled since according to ya'll it don't cost anything and all the money should be given back to the 1st, 2nd and top winners. I am getting ready to spend about $3500 on a engine and it sure would take a long time to ever win that back. If it is costing you to much to pull then stay home and watch RFD TV. Lets see I can just get everyone else to boycott and stay home by starting this crap then I will be the only one at the pull to win trophys. Is there anything us non complaining southern pullers can do to help you boys out? Maybe a loan or maybe write your governor or senator?? I just feel so bad that ya'll can't enjoy the sport of tractor pulling like us.

Casepower is going to have a very competitive(winner), next year for $3500, because he is intelligent enough not to get screwed and pay some over zealous engine builder 15,000 to do the same and I personally guarantee that when we get done he'll be makin fools out of guys that have 25,000 in a complete tractor, and he will have spent less that 5,000.

WE LIKE TO COMPETE LIKE THEM BUT WERE ALL FRIENDS WHEN ITS ALL SAID AND DONE .PERSONALY I THINK ALL THIS BICKERING IS GOING TO BE THE DOWNFALL OF THE SPORT.

I am sure I am a slow learner and the big tractor ideas are like the trickle down effect and I am at the bottom of the barrel. I am with you wildman it's a shame that there are so many problems up there, but I still think they should just build a few more sleds and have some fun like we do. As you know I still pull win or loose and I have done a lot of loosing, but enjoyed every minute of it. When I get my tractor done and start pulling again next spring and if I get beat It still won't matter to me. I do it because I enjoy it. If it mattered that much I would go get a big loan from the bank and build the baddest tractor around.

I only lost one tooth ta the farmall, the VACuum took three of em.

If you can't use your head to build a tractor and have to use your wallet in place of your brain then maybe they should have a class for the buyers and one for the builders. Hook fee for the builders $10 Hook fee for the buyers $200 then they could afford to give you a payout. Now I want to know how you got suckered into a $7500 crank?? I could have any stroke I want, balanced, or even cut into 100 peices and put back together for that. No wonder ya'll can't enjoy yourselves. I just can't figure out what you could have that would be worth $7500 what is it centrificlly varible stroke depending on the RPM?? Maybe variable valve timeing on the crank gear?? A crank for $7500 how much is a pack of cigs?? $200

If you build the rest of the engine right and don't use 5 pound pistons you don't need a billet crank. and if your paying over 5 grand to get one built your getting screwed anyway.

Excuse me, but I'm confused. Let me see if I understand the problem. A promoter takes the time and money to invest in a tractor pull. He takes his time to promote and administrate it. The pullers who participate see no value in his work, and want to either participate for free, or get their entry fee paid back in prize money. Then they crab about the rules and plan a boycott, believing that their "rights" have been infringed. What "rights" do they have? Seems to me that their rights are: A.participate, have fun and shut up, or, B. stay home so others can observe rule A. Is there some law of which I am unaware that prohibits a businessman or promoter from making a fair profit, or an outrageous profit, for that matter? What is the big deal here? I do not, and probably will not in the future, own a pulling tractor. But I do not, and will not in the future, participate in any activity that annoys me. Why do certain tractor pullers feel that promoters are required by "law" to hold events just for them, and not make money doing it? Please enlighten me. Thanks for your time..... .....P

Noone said not make anything, however, even our classes that sometimes have 25-40 tractors in at $25 entry fees (if you can't multiply, 35 tractors x $25= $875income), now surley we can pay 1st place guy (and even 2nd, and 3rd) MORE than there entry fee. Not saying pay them each $1000.00, but a "little gas money" would be nice!!! Do you understand?

ALSO. SOME ONE HAS TO DO IT IF WE WANT TO KEEP

THE RULES THAT THEY CHANGE HAVE TO DO WITH SAFETY.
IF WE WERE ON THE BOARD AND KNEW AVERYTHING THAT

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS HAVE PUT IN A LOT OF TIME

REALITY IS THAT NO PROMOTER IS GOING TO PUT ON A PULL YEAR AFTER YEAR AND NOT MAKE ANY MONEY AT IT. If they don't make money, they drop the pull. It takes lots of time and money to put on pulls and you should be glad there are a few promoters out there to put them on for you! In previous years, all money at regional NATPA tractor pulls went to the promoters. NATPA put on the National pull and received the receipts from that. No one on the Board receives any pay for any time that they are doing business for the NATPA. Ask to do an audit if you don't believe that. Don't accuse others of being thieves on hearsay. (Oh yeah, I heard all antique pullers are cheats. Are you?)

How to do that? Put up or shutup. Get together several thousand dollars, spend many hours on the phone lining up the building, equipment and help and put on your own pull. Pray for good weather and fellow pullers. Pay back 100% and make profit from all the spectators!!!!!
