I have a JD "60" w a 6 3/4" stroke...My friend has a "620" w a 6 3/8" stroke... We both have the same Bore and nearly the same compression... I have More Cubic inches than he does....why would the shorter stroke be better..?? Most Pullers WANT a longer stroke...!! Wouldn't I make more HP if I ran my "60" at the RPM of a "620"...??? I know it wouldn't hurt it...!! Thanks in advance...!!!! Ron.

You mean that all JD 2-Cylinder motors that are stroked will not make more power.?? I don't think all these guys are Wrong....!!!!! If all it is is breathing, then there is NO Problem...I just want to know ....the 620 has the same size valves...same port configuration ( within reason )... Valve timing is essentialy the same....so-with some head work, I should be making easily MORE Power...But at the original RPM, or at the Higher RPM..?? 302 Cu In is not much....Maybe I should just get a Power Block, for my "60", eh..?? What if I got a 620 and Stroked it.??

Stroking a two cylinder will make more power. Stroking and bigger bores have to have more air.The heads on the newer tractors had a better flow design. They were making more improvements all the time.Your 60 with the slow first gear should have plenty of power to compete.Power blocks are rare and costly for only a half inch more bore. Weighted the same the 60 and 620 should be very close in pulling competetions. I don't think either one would power out.
