I always like to read about all the problems with rules. I know that they can get you flustered, but there are some association (like the one I pull at) that are so poorly organized that it is ridicules! The only thing they ever check is hitch height. There are tractors that are running in the stock class that everone knows arn't stock, but know one says anything. The bigger tractors like the 1066's that are sappost to be "stock" are taking off in road gear! The list goes on! It gives a guy like me that has a "stock" tractor no chance of even coming close to winning.

Amen! No rules no fun! NATPA may have some wrinkles, but it's way ahead of anything else! I don't wanna butcher my tractors to compete! A nice resto and then pull, so Div 1 is the way to go! Besides, what fun is it to soup one up and then go beat on stock tractors? There is a guy in our area that shows up anywhere the rules are real loose (usually fairs) with a Super M-TA that is more 400/450 than Super M, wears a "Deere Slayer" shirt and pulls against stockers, but you never see him at a NATPA pull pulling against other Div 2 or higher tractors! One time he showed up at a Fair where we got them to have a 1st gear rule for the antiques, he was one pi--ed off Deereslayer!!!!...and let's not start a color war as a result of this post, we pull Farmalls; Super C. Super H, and Super M, JD's; B,A,70, a Ford 2N. an Allis. and soon a MM!

Well, you just solved your own problem, when in Roam,do what the Roamens do,Run with them,or get run over, kick butt ,or get your butt kicked, the club you belong to has no rules,so,have fun.
I myself feel the less rules the better,if there are just safety rules, like wheely bars, kill switches, ect.thats would be fine with me,MAN could I have a blast!,but thats not how it works, rules, give the ones making them some kind of power ,or leadership role, somthing to do,more or less,RULES,need them,to keep order and reason.
There are some clubs that have rules but don't enforce them, for some unkown reason,NEED NOT SAY WHO , RULES, It's a way of life, there everywere.
