what do you run for total ignition timing,on average. i have a jd 60 with some mods and i haven't got it to knock yet with c-116 race gas, just curious what the big boy's do. also in drag racing we lock out the mechanical and vacuum advance and run for instance 38 degrees advanced, what do you think about that for pulling, what mods are there for distributers, i already have msd and pertronix electronic, what else is there

Jason on my '51 John Deere "G" about the same set up as you have, except I got a 70 LPG distr. I got the Distributor set at max.advance @1400 rpm @18 to 21 deg advance with "B" Governor weights. This seems to work pretty good nice blue flame out the stack.Gman

AJ I don't know yet,I'm just experimenting. The B weights are alot lighter, and less force to close throttle but still control the engine I don't know yet I might be F--- in the wind having fun though. Later Gman

The lp distrib will only fire on the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke. So if their is any unburned gas left in the cylinder on the exhaust stroke it won't be ignited with the lp distrib. I don't know about the B weights. I am interested, too.

save your money on the fuel, unless you have really worked to get the compression up over 13 or 14:1. be careful when comparing to drag racing since there is such a large difference in engine combinations.

Jason call Matt at Motec Engineering. He can recalibrate your distrib to advance/retard with your engine RPM. His prices are very reasonable and he does nice work.
