Anyone pull a 77 row crop in the 3500# class? I see 70 row crops dropping to 3500, I'm looking at an early 77 to possibly try for 3500. It has 14.9-38 tires now. I'd appreciate any input from anyone who has done this and what I may have to do to lighten it up. Thank you

I'm pulling a 77 with press steel,frt and back,stock seat and frame,fenders,all sheet metal except side shields,with mech lift,and pully drive.15.5 x 38 with stock hubs,I weight 180 lbs=3775# Tractor pulling weight
If you are looking, find one with the small frt hubs, the big ones add alot of weight.Dan

I reccomend that you spend a few extra dollars and use aluminum for your weight brackets... in addition with all of the other suggestions.

Also if you are real adventurous you can remove the fenders and remove the "ears" that sticks up off of the rear axle. But make sure that your club rules allow you to pull without fenders. Or you can custom fab some new fenders out of sheet aluminum.

Pressed rims/cenetrs front and rear. Tricycle front end, remove PTO, hydraulic unit or mechanical lift and belt pulley. That should be enough to put you in the 3500 pound class.

Further options include replacing the the stock fuel tank with one of the plastic 3-5 gallon fuel cell, build a lightweight seat frame and seat. Use hollow tubing in place of the solid steering rod. Replace the hubs with weld on hubs and shorten the rear exles at the same time.
