I have a hard time beleiving that they threw out their poster boy Weeler Rittinger even though he had an aluminum frame! He should have been thrown out two years ago! Also herd that when people were singing up Vicky would treat pullers as if they were not going to pass their inspection! Pi$$ed enough people of that they went and got they'er membership money back from the natpa!!

Yeah I think the farther you drive the less rules you should have to comply with. Just what rule is it that Bear has blatantly violated?

Now don't quote me on this one but I have been reading about this for a whileand I think the rule he has violated is the one about the head being of the same manufacturer as the block. If you go back in the threads on this board several months or more it is detailed in alot of postings. The way I read the rules for Div V the head and I think a few other parts have to be of the same brand as the block which has to be of the same brand as the tractor it goes in but not neccesarily a stock replacement. I.E. An Oliver 1800 block in a 88, stuff like that.

Now as I read it Bear took 2 heads from a Ford V-8,cut one cylinder off of each, and mounted in on his motor. As I read this I have to agree that it is illegal. Some folks on here think that Div V is run what you got the money to build and think that is ok. Doesn't really matter to me as I don't pull in that class but everyone has different interpitations of things and this is just my opinion.

I don't personally know these folks on either side but that is what was written here. Heck for all I personally know he could have taken heads off of an IH truck and done it or just started a good rumour to make folks mad. But that is the story as it was written on this board. I am sure there are alot of different views on it and that is fine too. Oh well, keeps things exciting around here if nothing else!!

A lot of people complain about the NATPA, its members, its board, and its rules. I am just glad it is here. I enjoy tractor pulling, always have always will. So what if I get beat, so what if another person is "cheating"-maybe they know they are in the wrong maybe they don't, I pull for fun, it is not the only thing in the world, it is a hobby, not a career. If some pullers feel the need to cheat to win, they also go home knowing that the only reason they won was because they cheated. People who complain about it, do so because they obviously have nothing better to do. Complainers must enjoy the NATPA too if they put so much effort into complaining about it. If you really want to see changes made to address certain problems and you don't feel that the people in charge are capable of making those changes my solution would be to run for the board. Put yourself in the position to work on making those changes. I have heard some people say that you can't change the members of the board, well if enough people are unhappy then cut the crap. Put aside your differences, get together a take a stand at the meetings. I plan to voice this very opinion at the next meeting at Columbia in April, if you have problems then I suggest you stand up and tell everyone about them.
I am not taking sides between the pullers and the board members, I feel that some pullers do have logical complaints but there are also those who don't. To make sure that problems are problems and to find solutions is a hard job, when people run for the board they might as well have big bullseyes on the back of those green NATPA jackets because they are going to take the heat. I for one am glad that I don't have their jobs. When you are complaining about them and the way that they do their jobs maybe you should think about that. Maybe they don't do so bad afterall.
THANKS TO ALL THE BOARD AND VOLUNTEERS WHO MAKE OUR WINTER SEASON POSSIBLE-YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

Unhappy Puller?
Yes they have gotten to my classes, I just can't see any reason to get upset about it. I will make my points at the meeting in Columbia in April and I suggest you do to. If things are as bad as some folks think, it should be one heck of a meeting. I think if everyone voices their opinion at the meeting like they do on the web the problems will be recognized and maybe we can work on some solutions.

Thought for the day: Does anyone remember when tractor pulling was fun? I do. I wish everybody did.

Sounds to me like the NATPA is going to treat everyone the same, poster boy or not. When I signed up, Vicky was quite cordial...And when my tractor failed the inspection she graciously refunded my hook money. The tech crew gave me some suggestions on how to improve my setup so I could pass their inspection. I think they liked me because I didn't curse them and threaten them with bodily harm like some other idiots. Y'all have fun bashing the USAP boys.

Yea, and you pull what..div 4&5??? There's so few of you who cares what you think. Don't get me wrong your vote counts the same as mine even though I pull a Sears Craftsman in division I 3,250 lbs. Seriously, a lot of people went home without pulling last weekend, myself included, but if we're going to have rules we need to make sure every one is in compliance. It's silly to have a dozen rules and only enforce them at the scales (weight & drawbar). Just one guy's opinion.

Dang what is this?? I I read on this dang site is how the NATPA doesn't enforce the rules , over and over and over. Now they are starting to enforce them your griping about that!!! Seems to me that if your tractors wouldn't pass inspection then you don't have a foot to stand on griping about the rules!!! I can read the rules for my class and determine everything on it that will pass or fail except for the RPM only because I don't happen to have a tachometer.

It is however fun to read all the stuff on here and every now and then you actually get some useful information.

Well ther's all the more reason to pull USAP , do you know that by the time NATPA get's IT together, that, there will be so many people gone to other clubs, that the quality and class of competition will be gone also. What it will end up being is, just a club for the slect few, and untill the money is gone, to pull at a NATPA pull will be just an opportunity to TUNE UP YOUR TRACTOR.
I have pulled with NATPA for several years now, and never have I seen so much indeterminate, inefficacy and malicious with this board, why did I ever vote for these people?,I'LL never know.
