Farmall 400 head

what can be done to a gas farmall 400 head to make more power. right now it is 281 cubes and 160 psi compression. I am trying to get more power out of my tractor. any advice would be appriciated.

My dad and I have a Farmall M and we put a 450 head on it for more power and it is supposed to bump the power 10 horsepower. It may not be what you are looking for but I would try this.

Don't know what you got done already but you can get it milled,bigger valves ,port/polish job.Have you made any changes in the camshaft?But what ever you do try to do it in steps to tell what helped and how much.

how much horse power will i gain by porting and polishing the head. and by milling it. will i half to grind the intake manifold to match the head.

Depending on your piston (flat or dome) I would try getting the head shaved first.If you have a trustworhty engine machine shop ask them on how much.You may want to go only .050 or up to .120. as far as hp goes everyones different.You may not even see it on the dyno but you can tell on the track.Also if you go this route be mindful of your timing.
