Thanks for the help guys Lots more questions tho first how far can i safely bore my gas cyclender out to? if i find a all fuel 6.125 bore one will it fit my block?
How far can i stroke it with out grinding on block ? or comparmising crank strength and is it worth it since not going to pull other than a plow a few times a year or should i go for bore? who make or remakes the best cam? thanks!!!

Rod, I have a 70 gas I just rebuilt that has about 67 hp. All I did was bore to .045 over with used gas pistons. The cam has been reground, over stock spec but for stock r.p.m. (Berry Cam Service, Lester Prairie, MN 320-395-2377.) I did do quite a bit of head work, but nothing any body else couldn't do. The head and the block were cut .125". The head cut might be a bit to much as I did have detonation problems when plowing and using low grade fuel. I also removed the oil bath and replaced it with a dry element air filter. When looking for an air filter go big, those little cone style ones just dont flow enough volume. The filter I use is a cylinder style one, about 8" round and 22" long. It is the inner filter from a big tractor. I must say our 70 is a real hoot to plow with without spending a ton of money. I plan on trying my hand at pulling this summer. Good luck.

Gas 70 blocks have been bored to 6-1/8" but it's a stretch. There will be more power gained from improved ring sealing from a round true bore and an increase in compression from a domed piston, than from the increase in displacement. Airflow through the head/manifold is the limiting factor. The valves, seats and ports an inch from each side of the seats is where the power lies in any engine. Making certain the cam and lifters are reground true to stock specs will restore lost HP from wear. An LP manifold is great for pulling but not recommended for a odd jobs or parade tractor running gasoline.
