I have a 1939 H Farmall that had a replacement block put into it many years ago when the original motor blew up. It had a 300 block put into it by the original owner back in the 60's. Is it legal to run it like it is. I would like to pull it next year in the stock and open classes.

I asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago about an Oliver. The way it was told to me by a man who used to be on the tech committee of NATPA is that if you went to a IH dealership and needed a replacement for your H they would order you an 300 block, for AC if you needed a replacement for a WD series they would order a D-17 block but if you went to an Oliver dealer needing one they would order an 88 block or parts instead of an 880. It is confusing and I may have that mixed up with replacement heads but I think he said blocks also. Check back on this board under my name and it should be there somewhere.

Actually had a reasonable disussion on the subject. Hehe of course you can do what some do and just run till someone gripes about it :) LOL!!!

Jeff, your post is correct as to the way the rule is interpreted for Div III. I'm not sure without researching if Div I or Div II are the same.
Donnie, your best bet is to check with the tech committee of the club(s) you choose to be pulling with, their interpretation is the one that matters.

The rules I see in several places say to use stock engine, tranmission ect.. or its replacement. This was a replacement engine from the dealer but I cannot prove it. Do you think I will run into trouble when I go to the pulls?

It depends on where you are pulling and what division. For NATPA rules check the link below, there are #'s on the site to call for additional info. If you are pulling in a local pull you need to check with the rules commitee there. Good luck, give 'em heck, Fireman

If he beats some of the natpa somebodies it will be illegal, If it winds up going 5' it will be legal. Simply enuff, or ask Dawn Juneyour, he's lerking here somewhere.
