I noticed on the NATPA site that the cockshutt 30 tractor has been put in with the oliver 77.Not allowed under 4500#. But when you look at placements the E-3 is in 3500# class????? Not fair to me,The IH H is about the same HP and so is the WD. Anyone know what's up???I had a 30 and did well in 4500. But over that it wasn't competetive against 88's and M's.

The 30 Cockshutt is a 32hp (corrected) tractor. Its shipping weight with out fluids is 3250lbs. They decided that it belonged with the WC/WD 's and 66 olivers. I don't think the H ever had a shipping weight under 4000lbs.

The notice at the bottom of main page states it is going to be classified with 77's take a look.

I can see that but at the pulls so far they have changed that and let them pull in 3500# class. Which is where they should be, weight and hp wise.

My stock Cockshutt 30 weighs just under 3500 lbs. I never tried it in the 4500 lb. class but I imagine that the cut down M'S would eat me alive.

Mine normally did well in #4500. It was very stock, just a 1/8" over bore and a WD45 carb. I beat many M's with it because they had no weights on. But wheree we pull there are just a few power tracts. I just thought it was very unfair to classify it where the notice stated. Good luck with your 30.

Years ago we built a tractor for a class that was offered ,now you want to build a tractor and create a class it can compete in.

I'm not crying just stating what they posted on main page. Why would you move one tractor up? Because they beat up on the rest? Or because the others are crying? It dosen't really matter to me I pull a super 66 div 4 and love that 5th gear pull. I just feel it's unfair to move that tractor up. It was only 30 hp why move up to others that were 10+ more? The only problem I had with my 30 was pulling behind the B's that spun and left holes for me to go through.

The reason they moved the 30 up was that they designed the 3250 class for the B JD. Thats what I was told when I called to find out why. There was one E-3 Co-op that pulled in the class and won the points championship last year. They said that alot of WC pullers were whining that their shipping weight was less and they couldn't pull in that class so why should the 30.

I prefer to stay away from the NATPA Pulls although I pulled with my Moline G at the Praireville super pull and did real well. Every pull is different and if you attend many of the same ones every year you need to identify the sleds and clubs. I pull against 4 different machines and each machine is fifferent and requires different weight locations. One club never change the weight in the box. They just keep changing the chain length and if they can't lenghten the chain far enough they drag a chain under the plate. I really like the backyard and fair pulls.
