i figured you would know.i want to know the compression ratio in my engine.i took an comp.test,and i have 140 per cylinderis there a formula to figure this out. this is a 4 cylinder engine. i want to figure out what octain to run in it. thanxs..... dave

Yes their is a formula for determining your compression ratio, CR.

CR= (cylinder volume + combustion chamber volume)/ combustion chamber volume

However your static cranking pressure of 140 isn't much help in determining your CR. Their is a lengthy method of determing an accurate ratio. If you interested drop me an email or I can post what has worked for me in the past.

If you want my humble opinion on what fuel to run, I'd use 89-92 octane. I would estimate your CR to be between 5.9:1 - 6.9:1 on a stock motor.
