For NATPA division 2, is a 400 or 450 block and head in a M legal? Why is there a rule about the hitch adjuster cannot be above the center of the axle? Will a chrome coil really fail inspection? I'm not trying to start a brew-ha-ha. Thinking about going to Murray Ky. and need to understand the rules. Thanks.

I don't understand the chrome coil thing either. It's not as if chrome plating on the outside is going to have any effect on the inside of the coil, where the real difference between an el cheapo stock coil and a higher-performance one lies. I do understand about the MSD coils, as they will outperform your garden-variety NAPA coil, but high-performance coils are also available in a basically stock look for "sleeper" peformance at the local dragstrip. Makes no sense.

The hitch adjuster is for safety if your hitch breaks then you will be pulling from the point where the hitch adjuster is connected to the tractor. The higher that is the easyer it is to flip the tractor backwards.

The rules for all NATPA classes are posted on their web site. Check them out,if you are not legal don't go. Too many people have gone trying to get away with tractors that break the rules then complain about being dqed. If you don't like the rules vote to change them, but whining and complaining on the computer will not help anyone. Remember all NATPA rules other than safety are voted on by the members.

You must pull with a different NATPA than I did on Thanksgiving in Ohio. The rules in division 2 were run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough. They didn't follow one of their strict rules. My advice is don't waste your money going to Murray KY. pulling if your a legal div.2 tractor.

I think the natpa is a tad on the touchy side when they say a chrome coated coil is not allowed, I have a tough time understanding how this rule came out, I mean, I can see , barely in div 1 that this is a no no, but what is the reason for div 2? I mean, a chrome coil is bad as an alternator, and nothing came with one stock, I will never pull at one of there pulls, just a bunch of rich guys who like to spend alot of money. I know you must have good safety rules, but a chrome coil? I hope somebody goes with one and has the gumption to grab a can of paint and spray it on right in front of the tech official and say , is this legal now?

good answer, local pulls by local pullers by local sleds with local rules are still the best in my opinion. If you live in a rich neiborhod fine ,us po folks use what we can find in the grove or out behind the barn.the fun is in the pull and the cooler afterwards.ot
