Get a fiberglass tank too and an aliminum fuel cell. You'd be surprised how much that will take off besides the weld on hubs.Tomac has that too.

Switch the front bolster to a light weight steel one. Can lose a hundred there. Get rid of large cast hubs and use weld on plates. This will lose a hundred per side. Build all weight racks out of aluminum. Have done all of above to a '52 M and can run 4500# but have no extra weight. With your light rear tub and platform you should be able to have a couple hundred to spare.

Dennys has the light front ends.[Don,t forget to drain some of the fluid out of the rear end.]

Don't get one from Denny. Mine broke at the hub. I remade the bottom and got it going, another M that pulls with us had the same problem.

I made my own.....i used 31/2" pipe with 1/4" walls and a 6"x6"x3/8" plate. i got spindles hubs, tires, and rims out of the Northern tool catalog. when i made it i cut a hole in the plate so i could weld the pipe on both sides. the pipe was 13" long. then i took the spindles and set the to the angle i wanted (no clue on a measure)then notched the end of the pipe so i could weld on 3 of the 4 sides of each spindle. I had a total of $210 in everything.

We have a friend that pulls an M in the 4500 he has small front tires on alluminum wheels and 18.4X38 on alluminum. Tractor is totally stripped no weight brackets and no pto. He has to take the starter the out to make it to 4500.

Hey thats nothing! theres a puller in Michigah that has a "M" that weights 3500 and has weight bars and starter and weights on also, runs a nine speed too, runs 2nd ad 3rd high about 12mph,if you are serious about loosing weight, then maybe you should get ahold of him and ask what he did, maybe he will tell you.

If you want a lighter front end, I think there is one of the Massey front ends that is lighter and will fit an "M". Can't remember which one though. Maybe someone out of southern Iowa can tell you. I know there is a black 400 down there that has one on it.
