OK i have the crank and cam back in the engine, Now it is time to figure out which pistons to use. I sliped in one of the propane pistons and it is 1/4" below the deck. put one of the gas pistons in and it is 1/8" above the deck. I am having the propane head reworked and new rings. Now my question , what is the compression ratio on the propane pistons i have and the propane head?? I read where the propane pistons were even with the deck?? OR would it be better to mill the high altatude gas down to be flush with deck??
What would the compression ratio be then?? I need some advice frome someone that has put one of together before. Thanks for the help TR

Lay your head flat and drill a small hole in a peice of plexiglass. Lay the plexiglass over the chamber and get a siringe (spelling) and a bowl of water. Use it to check the CCs on the head and then let use know and I will figure your compression for you. I milled .040 off a set of high altitudes on a C so I could use a gas head. they were still above the block but the head gasket let it clear.

CASEPOWER: I could not get the CCs of the head, but i have it in ML. 1ML= .061 liter= .061 cubic inches (Now this is IF my math is right). ok the head held 282 ML. so 282ML X .061= 17.202 cubic inches in each cylender. I talked to the machine shop today and he ask if the propane crank and the gas crank were the same size??? were there any differances?? Thanks for the help. TR

a CC is equivalent to a ML

Thats what the pharmacy guy told me too a few years back when I was buying a siringe for checking CCs. Guess I should have mentioned that.

The cranks are the same. If you cut the pistons even with the deck and figureing your head gasket is .050 thick and the piston to wall clearance is .003 and the rings are .125 from the top of the piston then the compression will be 6.53 to 1. It is not going to hurt you to take a little off the head.
