I am using a tall block 403 motor in my U. Is there a significant torque or power difference using the tall blocks and rods compared to a 403 with M5 blocks?

Can't tell you about the torque, but it's getting harder and harder to find pulls around here that allow the tall blocks in a U. I am going to end up using short blocks in mine so that I can pull more. NATPA don't like them at all. Never mind some of the stuff that they do allow...

Don't make much sense, in order to be legal, I'll end up increasing the horsepower. Guess that some people don't like the fact that the MM makes cheap horsepower.

Well it all depends on what pistons, rods and head you are running, but rod angle will make a diference also with the shorter blocks.
I would rather have the tall blocks over a welters special, if thats what your asking
Just my thought

I think there would be better slow torque from the rod angle on the tall blocks. But I have engine theories and not tested many of them. Just observed others. Thanks for the advice.
