Is there a difference between the M, SM, 400 & 450 rods? Ihave 45750-DA rods. My parts book says the M & SM part # is 45750-DAX. What is the difference between the 45750-DA & the 45750-DAX rods? Will they interchange or are modifications necessary? Thanks for your help in advance. Jim

m rods use a 1 5/16's wrist pin and 400's and 450's use a 1" pin. the center line is in the same place.

The only difference I know of is that the 400/450 rod had a 1" pin hole and the M had 1 3/8. I don't know if the SM was 1 or 1 3/8. What parts book are you using? I'm looking for a good one.

Then is the distance from top of piston to center of crank journal the same distance whether you have a 1" or 1 3/8" wrist pin?

The 400/450 rod has a smaller dia wrist pin.
