I know of many 4010's that are in the 6500# class, but was wondering if you can lighten it up for the 6000# class?

Send me an E-mail and let me know what you got, I may be interested in what you have. I am seriously tossing around the idea of getting a 4010-JD for pulling, I am currently pulling two, 2 cylinder JD's and am thinking of building another. I may have to wheel and deal a tractor or two to do it, but maybe interested if the price is right. Let me know by E-mail because my work hours are so odd that I can't use the phone during day time hours usually. Thanks in advance.

Should be pretty easy. I have SFI 3 bar rollcage on mine and weigh just over 5500 with me in the seat (200#). The frame and cage are all chrome moly. 24.5-32 tires on alum wheels. I did have mine in 6000 as a farm stock tractor, with 18.4-38 tires (heavier than my 24.5). Scott is right about the rear end castings. All of the early stuff is lighter than the late castings. If you need any help e-mail me. I have tubular rear axles available, alum brake backing plates, etc.

Good Luck,

Brad

Mine weighs 6420 bare with me(185#s)on it. Aluminum wt brackets, all aluminum plates on rear housings, custom built fixed wide front. I am running a 55 series 466, and 24.5x32 Firestones with tubes on light steel wheels. Also have light aluminum fenders and floor plate and rack & pinion steering. Stripped all the hydraulics, fuel tank, and steering motor, but still running the factory hubs. I'm sure if you work at it, it will go under 6000#s. I could lose another 6-700#s, by going to weld on hubs, changing to an aluminum oil pan and a few other odds and ends. There is also supposed to be a light set of final drives that were on some tractors, but not sure if mine are the ones or not. Depending on the rules or your assoc. you may be able to go as light as 5500 with smaller tires, and no tubes.

The lowest that I have seen one stripped to is 6200 with 15.5X38's.

Puller.

I pull in south western wisconsin. We have had a lot of Oliver 88's in this are that are really really hard to beat, because of the man mods to the engine that can be done (1850 Block) The cleaned all the classes, until a guy by the name of Dale Rupp came along with his 4010. He pulls bare in 5500 pound hot farm with 18.4.38's on pressed steal rims. Just rips the appart. Good Luck.
