I am setting up a new pulling tractor and will be buying new 18.4x34 tires for it. Although I have pulled before with several different tractors I have never paid that much attention to tires in the past because I always just used what was on the tractor when I got it. I want to get the best pulling tires I can that still look like stock tires. Here in the NW cut tires are not allowed. I am putting these tires on a restored tractor so I want them to look somewhat original. This is a pretty big expenditure for me so I really want to get it right. At least one person recommended Firestone, Traction Field and Road. I like the looks of the Firestone, Super All Traction 23 for pulling. Does anybody know what the best tire would be? Is there a proven winner out there? Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Troy,
I would have to say that Firestone Field and Roads have a great reputation and pull well, but Armstrong tire (now called Titan) are very good. They are similar to the Firestones, but they have a slightly curved lug that bites and holds on very very well. It bites in and pushes the dirt outward torwards the flatter part of the bar. I recomend either one. My old Armstrongs can't be beat. We will see what happens with more power this year. Too bad you can't cut because I have a set of Firestone Deep Treads in 18.4x34 (the ultimate tire) ready to sharpen up and pull. They are very stiff and dig like no other. Anyone interested they are $300 for the pair with tubes. See my ad on this website. I got pictures. But I would say try those Titan tires. They are very classy and clean looking, slightly cheaper, and pull real well! I have seen MM GB tractors really kick butt in the mid Michigan area.

The best pulling tire that I have run into is what they call a Delta International Quality. I have a set of 13's on my WC and they don't give in at all or slip at all. They are the same tread stlye as the Firestones, but the have a thicker tread at a cheaper cost. Hope that helps you out!

The super all traction 23 degree tire are what I pull with and do very well. watch your tire presure ratio for your weight class and weight placement. That will help the most. If possiable go to an 18.4x38 more foot print.

Try to find some Titans, they used to be Armstrong but Titan bought them out but are using the same molds.I like the looks of the 23 degree Firestone super all traction and that is what I have.I have only pulled it once so I really don't know how they will do.Good luck,Jack(TN).

Check the rules of the groups that you are going to pull with. The clubs here in mid michigan don't allow a tire that wide except in some classes.
