I was told by Phil Munson that there used to be a 4 star hot rod puller tractor named "Effy". Is this right? I am playing with a Jet Star. Phil said a fella named Ron Perry would know who pulled this machine. Also may ave pulled "Sally Junk", a G1000. Anyone know?

Lyle Hull from Waupun WI used to pull an alcohol 5 Star MM, I believe the name was Northern Star. It's now wearing M670 sheet metal and pulling as Waupun Minnie Mo, owned by Lyles nephew. Stout little 4 cylinder, but it has a hard time keeping up with the 6 cylinder tractors.

Lyle has campaigned his alcohol Vista G1000 for many years.

The 5 Star is in New York pullin'. the 670 is still here, had it out 5 times in 2002. The new ride is a G1000 Vista in the NTPA LtSS class. 504 cubes, 2 chargers, on alky. Started to become a lot of fun last year. Not many of those in the Lt. class anywhere. Dale

Dave Stangle drove Solid Junk to 2 NTPA championships & also won at the Indy Super Pull. When the IH guys started to put on side shields to hide their motors, He & Ron cut up some old rusty barn siding & wired it on just have a little fun. He now pulls a "stock" semi at a lot of pulls in the tri-state area. He usually is in the top 3. Dave Smiths tractor was a single turbo'd alkie burner.

Effie was a 445 MM light SS tractor built and pulled by Dave Smith from Rochester,Indiana. He built a 705 MM puller and then sold the 445 to the Welters at Verona,MO.They pulled it in the 4500 SS class here in Missouri for awhile in the early 1980's.I think I have a picture of it some where.

The Solid Junk G-1000 MM was built and owned by Ron Perry from Bringhurst,IN.Dave Stangle from Kewanna,IN helped on it and drove it alot all thru the 1970's.It wasnt pretty but it could run with any one back then.

i used to watch solid junk pull in indiana about 25 yrs ago and it was a strong running machine..looked really horrible though..mismatched paint and had rubber hoses sticking out of it all over the place..now that im older i think a lot of them were put on for show but who knows..perhaps there were some tricks back then that not to many people knew about or caught on to..used to run against an int that gave him fits by the name of red rooster...things sure have changed since then we have gone from pulling a ub diesel with a little alchohol and a homemade manifold for turbo..melting several pistons in the attemtpt for more hp..to spending gobs of money on all aftermarket stuff and computers to tell us how our cylinders are running...believe if i could i would go back to the older times when it was fun to see what everyone welded and built in their own shops instead of how much money they had and what they could have SOMEONE else build for them.

I would tend to agree with you sir. I want details on your UBD. I just bought one. I would like to crank it up some without going overboard. I don't usually do diesel stuff much. I would like to get some details on trying some things.

"Sally Junk"?????
We should make new MM pullers take a test. If they don't pass, they should not be allowed to pull Molines. They could pull a John Deere.

I guess it was "Solid Junk". From what I hear it was a great machine when it held together. Love the big engines!

Dang right I'm new. Apparently "Sally Junk" was a G1000 LP with a little alcohol and turbo that pulled years ago. PROBABLY BEFORE I WAS BORN. It was just some heresay from a nice fella in New York. I pulled a John Deere, that is why I bought a real tractor. An MM U. It's family heritage man! The Prarie Gold color continues to grow with about 10 of them now.

Yeah, Jim Veltman told me LeRoy. That is too bad. Didn't he pull AC? I don't quite remember. I didn't realize he was in Florida. JDs are not so bad. If my H had 3x the horsepower it would do quite well. Too bad to hear about Dan.
