What is the most I can bore the stock bloc on my late JD B? Could I go 0.190 over stock? What kind of HP gain would this give me? Thanks!

Original compression ratio was about 4.65 to 1

Raising it to 7 to 1 ( or higher) will make a WORLD of difference...you Won't kill it in 1st....!!! Not sure what compression ratio I have but I have to open the pet-cocks to start it... +180 and a set of "Allied" pistons a mechanic found for it, installed in 1960.. It will start sometimes, when warm, w/petcocks closed...pulls a 2-14" just 1 gear faster than the other identical "B"..... I don't think you will really need that much bore ( and that costs a lot ) I wonder if a set of JD 520 pistons would work..they are 7:1....LP pistons are even higher...!!!

I can't say how far you can bore your block, but I can tell you that you won't see major power gains by just a simple overbore. Big gains are made by increasing stroke, compression, breathing and the like. Boring does increase displacement, but not nearly to the extent that stroking does, unless you go to a power-block.
