I am looking to overhaul my 1936 Farmall F-20. I havent been able to find much help on what I can do to the old beast to make it competitive in summertime pulls (NATPA DIV I & II apply) Does anyone have any ideas, or can anyone share info on F-20's that have been built up in the past? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

About 15 years ago, my Dad built 2 F-20's using stock stroke and 4.25 sleeves and pistons from AC 426 engines. The pistons were machined to allow about 12:1 compression. With larger valves, cam, rocker and carb work, these tractors produced about 80 horsepower on a very stingy dyno. Today's competition would probably require stroking, but, an F-20 can be a tough tractor at least up to 4500 lbs. E-mail if you would like piston suggestions for a stroker motor, or other ideas. I may have pistons that you could use.

twenty years ago i overhauled an old f-20 with gasoline pistons and milled the head all that we thought we could get away with. ported the head and manifold a little. drilled the carb jets out a little and advanced the timing until it was real dangerous to crank and had 45 horse. we had a lot of fun and won a lot of trophies with it, but it wouldn't be competitive today.
